Supporting clients with workplace success

Interview-style, with Elizabeth Irias, LMFT

  • Course Description

This course is designed to provide therapists an overview about how to support their clients with developing critical tools and skills for workplace success, through the eyes of a career counselor. The Gig Economy is supplanting the traditional workplace environment of the 20th Century: According to the Freelancing in America survey (2017), 36% of the current workforce are freelancers, and by 2027, that number is predicted to rise to over 50%. According to Bloomberg News in Underemployment Is the New Unemployment, “Western countries are celebrating low joblessness, but much of the new work is precarious and part-time.” The traditional employment model is not longer relevant nor effective in today's work world, and this course will help therapists form a general understanding of how this phenomenon affects their clients and how to help them navigate these challenges.

  • Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Describe two or more ways that The Gig Economy differs from the prior work model; Discuss how therapists can engage their clients in considering their skills a marketable brand.
