Highlighting the goals and impact of effective and integrated clinical supervision in addiction care

Interview with Elizabeth Irias, LMFT

  • Course Description

Historically, clinical supervision in the addiction workforce goes through waves of being emphasized and dismissed. At times, due to competing priorities, those in the addiction workforce rapidly cut the corner of clinical supervision in hopes of maintaining compliance, productivity, and managing the excessive volume of people in need outweighing the care professionals on hand to meet those needs. But, we are working against ourselves: The work of addiction treatment is one that requires precision and precision in healthcare is best monitored through consistent and structured clinical supervision. This course discusses the clinical and organizational benefits of prioritizing ongoing clinical supervision, as well as guidance for navigating challenges around implementing a ‘supervision-friendly’ workplace culture.
