• COURSE DESCRIPTION

    Spirituality and religion are at the heart of patients' motivational system, their resource system, and their understandings of themselves, the world, and others. Working effectively with patient spirituality is a crucial ingredient in developing therapeutic alliances and helping people work toward change that matters to them. This presentation offers a rationale for attending to spiritual and religious issues in psychotherapy, an understanding of spirituality useful in working with a diverse population of patients, and two practical foundations for working with spirituality in the context of psychotherapy.

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Describe spirituality and religion and the similarities/differences; Explain the rationale for attending to spirituality and religion in mental health treatment; Describe two foundational pillars of spiritually integrated psychotherapy

    In order to receive a certificate of completion reflecting the associated CE credit hour, you must:

    #3: Achieve a passing grade on the post-presentation test (the test has up to ten questions and you must earn a score of at least 80%; users can re-test up to three times. Psychologists who are seeking CE credit may not be awarded credit if they attempt to pass the post-test more than three times.)
