    Intuition is defined as a natural feedback system between the conscious and unconscious mind, which allows for protection and growth of the individual. During this interesting presentation, recent theory and empirical research on intuition is reviewed. Additionally, the ethical applications of intuition are suggested for mental health practitioners with both self and client care.

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Describe two ways intuitive abilities are part of human nature; Name two findings from peer reviewed research studies on intuition.

Lori Chortkoff Hops, PhD, DCEP is a licensed Psychologist, (University of Houston, Texas), (Diplomate in Comprehensive Energy Psychology), and Reiki Master practicing psychotherapy in Westlake Village, California, USA. Dr. Hops serves on ACEP's Executive Board of Directors as Secretary (2016-2019), and is nominated as President-Elect in 2020.  Dr. Hops combines practices from western empirical science, wisdom traditions from around the world, and her personal heart based intuitive guidance when working with others.  She also teaches courses for professionals, students, and the general public on topics such as the science of intuition, compassion, energy practices, spirituality, ritual, coping with illness, self-care, laughter yoga, and movement arts. She dances, writes, and paints.  Dr. Hops serves on the Board of Directors for Gift of Life Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization that funds international pediatric heart surgeries and nutritional assistance (2014-2019). Dr. Hops founded and facilitated the ACEP Ventura County Local Group (2014-2019).
