• COURSE DESCRIPTION

As supervisors working with supervisees from diverse backgrounds, our sociopolitical and sociocultural landscape requires us to understanding how to more effectively conceptualize their developmental needs. This is needed not only so that we, and they, can serve their clients well, but also because most supervisees are impacted in varying ways by the social justice concerns of our society, regardless of cultural background. Thus, we are pressed to be able to intervene from more culturally-responsive and social justice-informed perspectives. This course discusses The Cross-Cultural Civility-Mindset Developmental Model (CCCMDM), developed by Dr. Sonja Sutherland, and provides a comprehensive model for effectively approaching ethical and culturally-responsive supervision & clinical intervention.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Describe three or more components necessary for culturally-responsive supervision and case conceptualization; Describe the stages of change model that can be used for the assisting supervisees in the development of antiracist, culturally-responsive, and social-justice driven intervention
