Learn a couple of mindfulness practices that can be easily integrated into client sessions

  • Course Description

This course includes a review of the impact of mindfulness on emotion regulation, impacting both therapists and clients alike. When behavioral health professionals are better able to manage their own emotions and counter-transference when working with clients, treatment outcomes are improved. Likewise, clients who integrate mindfulness and meditation into their lives are more likely to achieve symptom reduction for behavioral health conditions like depression and anxiety. In addition to helping with emotion regulation, mindfulness has an impact on our thinking patterns and can have a positive impact on habits like catastrophizing and anxious ruminations; these benefits will also be discussed. The course also includes a guided meditation practice about both Working with Difficult Emotions and Mindfulness of Thinking, designed to support providers in understanding how meditation can be integrated into client care.

  • Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Recite two or more potential benefits achieved when therapists integrate a personal practice for self-care that includes mindfulness and meditation; Describe how a therapist’s or counselor’s own practice of mindfulness and meditation can enhance therapist/client attunement and service deliveryng
