A helpful discussion about PANS/PANDAS and what every clinician needs to know about this debilitating autoimmune disorder

Interview-style, with Elizabeth Irias, LMFT

  • Course Description

Listeners will learn about what PANS/PANDAS is and why it is on the rise… one in 200 children have the disorder(s). PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome), PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections), and AE (Autoimmune Encephalitis) are emerging health crises that have a far-reaching impact on the field of mental health, and can cause severe OCD-like and Tourette-like symptoms in both children and adults. This course provides an in-depth look at the clinical diagnostic criteria so that therapists can better identify individuals who present with these often misdiagnosed medical issues and help the client and family receive the help they need.

  • Learning Objectives
