• COURSE DESCRIPTION

This on-demand podcast CE course examines the differences between Western psychological paradigms and the mental health challenges faced by people in the State of Palestine or originating in these areas. It analyzes the limitations of the Western model of psychology, such as its focus on individualism, homeostasis, evidence-based practices, and potential political influences on scientific concepts. The course proposes a critical reassessment of these practices to better accommodate diverse cultural narratives, enhance support for clients with ties to these regions, and address global mental health issues.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completing this course, users will be able to: Describe the limitations of Western diagnostic labels like depression and post-traumatic stress disorder in regions experiencing ongoing violence and trauma; List two or more therapeutic interventions that incorporate the collective historical and cultural narratives of non-Western societies
