• COURSE DESCRIPTION

Sometimes in our work with clients, the process of therapy can seem stalled - maybe we’re covering the same material, session after session; or maybe we’re feeling unsure of what to focus on; maybe the conversation during sessions has little vitality or real engagement. As a clinician, it’s crucial to develop strong skills for navigating this particular “crossroads.” Is it time to focus on something new? Is it important to go over some of the patterns again? Maybe it’s time to say goodbye. Knowing how to skillfully address this therapeutic moment serves both you and your client.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: List two or more reasons why the therapeutic process might “stall; Explain two factors that help a clinician decide how to move forward when there’s a lack of direction in sessions
