• COURSE DESCRIPTION

    This course provides an overview of the relationship between social connectedness and mental health, and the positive and protective impact of strong social relationship on suicidality and depression. This interview course emphasizes the importance of helping clients build connection and offers some concrete strategies and interventions for doing so effectively. Clinician social skill building is also discussed.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: List three or research points relating to the impact of social connectedness on mental health and wellbeing; Explain three or more strategies for building social connection; Describe the Six S’s and their use in building relationship skills

  • HOW TO TAKE THIS COURSE

    In order to receive a certificate of completion reflecting the associated CE credit hour, you must:
    #1: Have an active paid Clearly Clinical membership
    #2: Listen to the corresponding course podcast
    #3: Achieve a passing grade on the post-presentation test (the test has up to ten questions and you must earn a score of at least 80%; users can re-test up to three times. After three attempts, users are advised to re-listen to the audio course in its entirety and then subsequently re-test. Psychologists who are seeking CE credit may not be awarded credit if they attempt to pass the post-test more than three times.)
    #4: Complete the requested course evaluation.

    Course elements (including the course audio, post-test, and requested course evaluation) can be completed on a computer or mobile device via your Clearly Clinical account.

Jessica works with schools, colleges, and businesses to help them build stronger connection and community within their organizations. Jessica sees building connection as the most powerful preventative mental health strategy available, and created the ProjectConnect program to offer organizations a proven roadmap for building relationships in small groups. Jessica provides facilitator certification training on the ProjectConnect model, and offers keynotes and workshops on the topic of connection. Over 60 organizations have used the ProjectConnect program to build connection.

Jessica has given a TEDx talk, "The most powerful antidepressant on earth" and is the author of "The Resiliency Skills Training Workbook: 10-minute exercises to improve your Health and Happiness."

Jessica received her master's degree from Smith College School For Social Work and began her career providing individual and group counseling.

Elizabeth 'Beth' Irias (she/her) is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and the Founder and President of Clearly Clinical.
