• COURSE DESCRIPTION

    This on-demand podcast CE course examines the ethical, legal, and emotional complexities of professional wills in clinical practice. Dr. Robyn Miller, a psychologist with lived experience stepping in after the death of a dear colleague and friend, explores the impact of clinician incapacitation or death on clients, families, and coworkers. Through compelling real-life examples and legal guidance, clinicians will learn the essential steps for creating a professional will, understanding ethical obligations, and planning for continuity of care and record access. This training offers practical strategies to reduce client distress, ease administrative burdens on loved ones, and uphold the highest standards of ethical practice.

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: List three or more ethical responsibilities mental health professionals have in preparing for unexpected incapacitation or death; Briefly describe how inadequate planning can negatively affect clients, families, and professional colleagues; Identify how different work contexts (private practice, group, agency) impact the need and method of professional will implementation

  • HOW TO TAKE THIS COURSE

    In order to receive a certificate of completion reflecting the associated CE credit hour, you must:
    #1: Have an active paid Clearly Clinical membership

    #3: Achieve a passing grade on the post-presentation test (the test has up to ten questions and you must earn a score of at least 80%; users can re-test up to three times. After three attempts, users are advised to re-listen to the audio course in its entirety and then subsequently re-test. Psychologists who are seeking CE credit may not be awarded credit if they attempt to pass the post-test more than three times.)
    #4: Complete the requested course evaluation.

    Course elements (including the course audio, post-test, and requested course evaluation) can be completed on a computer or mobile device via your Clearly Clinical account.

    This course contains a one-hour, non-interactive audio podcast which is available for free on all major public podcast platforms, including YouTube, by searching for 'Clearly Clinical'. Robyn Miller, PhD is a clinical psychologist practicing in Maryland since 2002, and she is the founder of TheraClosure, LLC, the first psychotherapist professional executor service. Dr. Miller trained at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center/Harvard Medical School and at Harvard University Counseling Center. She earned a Ph.D. from University of Rochester, and a B.A. from Tufts University. Psychotherapy interests include menopause transitions, eating and mood disorders, and trauma. Dr. Miller writes and trains clinicians on professional wills and the role of practice executor.

Elizabeth 'Beth' Irias (she/her) is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and the Founder and President of Clearly Clinical.
