• COURSE DESCRIPTION

    This on-demand podcast CE course explores the impact of election stress on individuals and communities, with a focus on how it can affect people from all backgrounds, including those from both marginalized and non-marginalized groups. Dr. Sangeeta Prasad discusses the physiological and psychological effects of tense political climates, offering insights into how clinicians can support clients in navigating the complexities of identity, power dynamics, fear, and cultural representation, with a particular emphasis on people who have been historically minoritized. She emphasizes the importance of understanding the role of stress in shaping mental health and provides strategies to help clients across diverse experiences regulate their nervous systems, develop positive identities, and cope with societal divisions.

    In order to receive a certificate of completion reflecting the associated CE credit hour, you must:

    #3: Achieve a passing grade on the post-presentation test (the test has up to ten questions and you must earn a score of at least 80%; users can re-test up to three times. After three attempts, users are advised to re-listen to the audio course in its entirety and then subsequently re-test. Psychologists who are seeking CE credit may not be awarded credit if they attempt to pass the post-test more than three times.)
    #4: Complete the requested course evaluation.

Dr. Sangeeta Prasad

Trauma Expert

Dr. Sangeeta Prasad is a liberation psychologist who is Co-Founder and Executive Director of In The Streets, a non profit dedicated to interrupting generational trauma. Her areas of specialization include violence prevention, early intervention, addressing racism and misogyny in clinical practice, and training focused on adapting psychological practice to meet the actual needs of minority communities by integrating mind and body. Dr. Prasad obtained her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in Spanish and International Studies, her Masters from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education in Risk and Prevention Counseling, and her Doctorate in Psychology from The George Washington University. Her training at The National Asian American Mental Health Institute, The Reginald S. Lourie Center for Infants, Young Children and Families and BREDS India influenced the lens through which she views therapeutic action. She is a registered yoga teacher with pre- and post-partum specialization. She is grateful for her teachers and her family.

Elizabeth 'Beth' Irias (she/her) is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and the Founder and President of Clearly Clinical. She has specializations in Clinical Documentation, Feedback Informed Treatment, Best Practice, and Utilization Review, and works closely with clinical teams across the US as a trainer and national conference presenter; Beth was formerly an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University in the Graduate Psychology and Education department. Licensed in California and Oregon, she provides therapy via her private practice to young adult and adult clients, members of the LGBTQ population, and those with addictive disorders. She has two young children, a super cool spouse who helps out with Clearly Clinical's tech, and a rescue dog.
