• COURSE DESCRIPTION

    This on-demand podcast CE course helps mental health professionals identify and understand the often-overlooked impact of dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Led by Dr. Robin Raniero-Norris, the course explores how these neurological, language-based disorders affect mental health, emotional well-being, and day-to-day functioning across the lifespan. Listeners will learn to recognize signs that may indicate a learning disorder, understand how these conditions often co-occur with anxiety, depression, and trauma responses, and consider appropriate referrals for assessment and support. Emphasizing practical strategies, the course empowers clinicians to integrate inclusive intake practices, advocate for educational resources, and support clients in navigating shame and building self-esteem.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Define and differentiate between dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, and briefly describe how each can impact daily functioning; Identify at least three psychological or behavioral responses people may exhibit due to undiagnosed specific learning disorders; List three or more appropriate referral options for clients suspected of having specific learning disorders and describe their roles in assessment or treatment

  • HOW TO TAKE THIS COURSE

    In order to receive a certificate of completion reflecting the associated CE credit hour, you must:
    #1: Have an active paid Clearly Clinical membership

    #3: Achieve a passing grade on the post-presentation test (the test has up to ten questions and you must earn a score of at least 80%; users can re-test up to three times. After three attempts, users are advised to re-listen to the audio course in its entirety and then subsequently re-test. Psychologists who are seeking CE credit may not be awarded credit if they attempt to pass the post-test more than three times.)
    #4: Complete the requested course evaluation.

    Course elements (including the course audio, post-test, and requested course evaluation) can be completed on a computer or mobile device via your Clearly Clinical account.

Dr. Robin Raniero Norris is a licensed marriage and family therapist, professor, and dedicated advocate for literacy and dyslexia awareness. She serves as the Director of Mental Health Education for a Decoding Dyslexia branch in Virginia, combining her professional expertise and personal experiences to promote accessible education and supportive opportunities for learners. An adjunct faculty member at the College of William & Mary, she is committed to fostering understanding and collaboration for individuals with learning differences.
