• COURSE DESCRIPTION

The DSM-5-TR is the latest version of the diagnostic classification system of mental health disorders used in the U.S., and it’s important for clinicians to know how this “text revision” differs from its immediate predecessor, the DSM-5. This podcast interview course reviews continuities and changes in the DSM-5-TR, including how this revision addresses the impact of culture, racism, and discrimination on diagnosis, as well as discussion about the strengths and limitations of how the DSM system conceptualizes mental disorders. Under-utilized resources and organizational systems within the DSM are also reviewed.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Describe two or more ways the DSM-5 differs from previous versions of the manual; Discuss how the DSM-5-TR addresses issues of culture and other forms of diversity and how it differs from past editions; Identify one strength and one limitation of the DSM-5-TR system
