• COURSE DESCRIPTION

    Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) remains one of the most stigmatized and misunderstood diagnoses in mental health care, often leading to misdiagnosis, limited access to treatment, and clinician burnout. In this presentation-style podcast CE course, Dr. Nancy Greco offers a trauma-informed reexamination of BPD, challenging traditional diagnostic assumptions and exploring how emotion dysregulation, chronic invalidation, and complex trauma shape clinical presentation. Through a focused review of DSM-5-TR criteria, internalized and externalized symptom patterns, and commonly overlooked subtypes, this course invites clinicians to move beyond stigmatizing labels toward more accurate and compassionate conceptualizations. Emphasis is placed on clinical discernment, psychoeducation, pacing of treatment, and relational care, supporting clinicians in working more confidently and ethically with this population.

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: List four or more diagnostic criteria for borderline personality disorder; Differentiate between internalized and externalized presentations of borderline personality disorder; List three or more ways stigma impacts diagnosis and treatment of borderline personality disorder

  • HOW TO TAKE THIS COURSE

    In order to receive a certificate of completion reflecting the associated CE credit hour, you must:

    #3: Achieve a passing grade on the post-presentation test (the test has up to ten questions and you must earn a score of at least 80%; users can re-test up to three times. After three attempts, users are advised to re-listen to the audio course in its entirety and then subsequently re-test. Psychologists who are seeking CE credit may not be awarded credit if they attempt to pass the post-test more than three times.)
    #4: Complete the requested course evaluation.

Dr. Nancy Grechko is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Founder of Grechko Training & Consulting.
