    According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America women are twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. In this course we will focus on why mindfulness is particularly helpful for women struggling with generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety. An overview of anxiety disorders will be provided along with the biological, societal, and cultural factors that contribute to women’s anxiety. Attendees will learn what a mindfulness practice is, and why it helps women effectively manage anxiety. Participants will also learn strategies for bringing mindful practices into therapy.

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:Identify three factors that contribute to women developing an anxiety disorder; Describe three mindfulness practices that can be incorporated into therapy sessions.
