    In this course, we will cover topics in employment law that are of importance in the behavioral health field. Many behavioral health providers may inadvertently break employment-related laws, and this presentation is geared at increasing the understanding of how to manage employment-related issues in a legally compliant manner. These topics will include; interviewing and hiring; policy and procedure requirements; employment discrimination; harassment; wage and hour concerns; employee discipline; and termination. The specific examples and citations given in the course are related to California law. However, many of the principles and much of the guidance presented are relevant on a national level.

    Upon completing this course, participants will be able to: Identify the major employment law risk areas in the field of behavioral health; List three or more resources for guidance related to behavioral health industry employment-related concerns or questions.
